Evening all. Pleasing day at the lottie today, got a lot done. However I did notice that one of my broad bean plants looks very limp - it had the appearance of a plant first thing in the morning after a heavy frost. I planted 21 in all in November, and lost just 2over the winter so with the exception of the new plants that replaced those causalties, all are nice and bushy with 3 or 4 stems and approx 9 - 12 inches high, bit of chocolate spot but otherwise fine.
I wondered if it might be a bit dry so gave it a good soaking expecting it to have perked up by the time we left for the day in about 4 hours time, however it still looked pretty poorly. On closer examination most of the plants have the tell tale frilly edges of weevils, and I spotted a few of the beasts themselves.
I've read on various posts on here that the plants generally suffer no ill effects from a bit of nibbling, but I also read the larvae eat the roots. So is my sick plant possibly a consequence of over nibbling by the larvae?
Have read all the links/interweb sites etc, but can anyone give me some advice from their experience?
