  • bad peppers

    Hi all,

Just noticed that a couple of my peppers have gone pail brown and soft on one side of the fruits.

I have taken the peppers off that have turned like this, but i have more small ones developing.

Can anyone tell me what it is? And if i need to get rid of the whole pklant as i have lots of other pepper plants close by and im worried about them being infected if its a disease.

    Any help would be welcomed.

    Thank you

Without seeing them I can't be sure, but it sounds like it might be blossom-end rot. This affects tomatoes and peppers and is caused by (I think) calcium deficiency, usually brought about by irregular watering of the plant. If it is the plants should be okay.

If the brown rot is down the side of the peppers, rather than on the bottom where the flower was, then I'd be inclined to move those plants away from your others until you see if it's happening to any other fruits on the same plant. It may just be bad luck - those peppers might have been damaged by something and allowed a bit of rot to get in. If it is botrytis (grey mould), the spores can spread to your other plants so better to be safe than sorry...
