Funny that, I was just thinking of planting the two new blackcurrant bushes in the front garden. I have a lot of space producing nowt but grass so I'm keen to get new ideas. Thanks for the link.Comment

Hi Dave, I've always thought that most front gardens are missing an opportunity by being planted with pretty pretty stuff and as for lawns.... don't get me started on that! The link to the Backtofront project came from the Permaculture association and I thought that the manual was very good for people who wanted to do what you have done, but, perhaps, lacked the courage!

Cheers. As it mentions on the blog, the front was becoming neglected and the back yard is full of the pretties so I really didn't have the space to grow much. Its now three years on and the comments I get when people pass are great. One lady at the end of the street even popped me round some spare seed potatoes she had left, as seeing the veg had inspired her to try it herself. If you think about the crops and their natural rotations (follow on crops- ie leeks after salad potaoes) you'd be amazed at the amount of stuff you can harvest from such a small site.Fantasy reminds us that the soul is sane but the universe is wild and full of marvels
