my autumn spear calabrese is nearly ready to harvest already. 2 of the 5 plants have central spears. could this be weather related. does anyone else have this problem. they are not supposed to be ready until september

Mine are the same too, if I don't cut them off and put them in the freezer they will turn into flowers very shortly. I've never grown these before, only S purple, if I cut the head off will any more come or is that it?

Get another crop sown and it will be ready before the onset of winter.

my "Autumn Calabrese" also has central heads ready to pick now..... must be a weather thing.
I have however got 6 "reserve plants" still in pots to check their growth so am going to harvest these then put the remaining 6 in the ground in a few weeks or so.
