  • Aubergine help please.

First time for me growing from seeds this year, variety is Black Beauty (kindly sent by a grape) Doing really well, potted on 2 weeks ago and about 4" with plenty of new growth. A few of the leaves (older ones) have almost scorch marks on them, still on my windowsill inside. Just wondering if it maybe a virus? Any ideas? I have picked off some of the leaves affected. Help

Mine has had the same for about a week now. Only the Black Beauty, nothing wrong with the other type. Still growing ok so I'm not worrying yet

I've had these too on Black Beauty - put it down to being in a hot sunroom next to the window. The leaves may have got splashed with water.

It looks like scorch, but they can't have been splashed with water, I only water them from below and I'm really careful. Unless its the kids???? or Mr C??????? Mmmmmm?

Good luck with your aubergines MrsC. Don't want to be negative but I've never got the blighters to do it yet. I get lovely plants but they don't set fruit. Last year I got 4 wee runts from 3 plants.
They like it hot and high humidity so you could put saucers of water between the plants to increase the humidity and spray them over with water. I would leave the leaves on them.
But don't listen to me, I only get great plants, loads of flowers and no aubergines.
Last year I said it was the last time I was trying them. This year is definitely the last shot.
            Good luck with yours.

If the room where they are isnt heated the it could be caused by dew, if the night was cold enougth then the leaves would have dew on them in the morning and as the days have had exceptionaly good weather then then sun on the dew could cause the damage.
