  • Aubergine Advice again please

My aubergines are growing very well in the greenhouse, theres lots of fruit & they have turned black. Problem is they have only grown to about the size of peas. I've taken the tops of the stem off & I'm picking out newly flowers/fruit that seem to be appearing rapidly! to promote growth. I've started giving them food once a week aswell but they don't seem to be growing any bigger. What am i doing wrong?
    any advice greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

When you say lots of fruit:- the book I use says to limit the plants to 4-5 fruit each. So if you have more than this number, especially this year when the light levels and temperatures are low you plants may just be unable to feed any of the fruit enough to grow.

What I don't know, if this is your problem, is whether you should remove the old ones that haven't grown and give 4 new ones a chance on each plant or whether you should just reduce you numbers down.

I have some "rescued" grafted plants which have taken ages to recover and start producing flowers that don't drop off but in the last week they have suddenly picked up, I have used a paint brush to pollinate them. Today the first fruit set is as big as a small egg so I think it's worth going for the new set option. Good luck.
