is anyone growing atlantic giant this year, if so how big are your pumpkins now?

Hi Adam, I've got three Atlantic Giants, two Howden, two Blue Moon and two that I'm calling SMT because that's who donated the seed via another grape. The Atlantic Giants have some golf balls on them, the rest haven't fruited yet. A couple of the golf balls withered so I've pulled them off and given the plants a good feed and they're going great.

Mine took forever to germinate so no fruit yet. It is however growing nicely now so hopefully I'll get something.

Well there you go Adam, you're doing better than we all are! Hope it reaches a record weight for you, it sounds like it might if it's that size already.

Mine are slightly larger than tennis balls....

Weirdly I have two plants, one has yellow fruit and the other green - what colour are everyone else's babies? I think one of mine might be a rogue plant and I don't want to end up saving the seed from a dodgy one!

Ours are football-size now. They're rambling around underneath the sweetcorn, looking pretty happy.

Who turns their pumpkins? Ours are getting yellow-ish flat bottoms. Never grown giants before. Any advice please (don't want to hijack thread but sort of relevant-ish to the OP)?

I had a quick go at turning them... I'm slightly paranoid about breaking the stems though. Do other people bother or not? We have around four/six pumpkins on each plant but only two on each plant are swelling to this sort of size. The others are pretty small. Here are the fellas anyway...

Hi..I've got three atlantics in a row and as a first year allotmenteer and my first go at these big sprawling beasts need to know if you cut them back at all to encourage bigger fruits rather than loads of smaller ones as mine are melon sized(at the mo) but the plant is stretching its legs along the plot!..
