  • Asturian Tree Cabbage - or is it?

Several years ago I planted out some "odd" cabbagey things in part of the garden some distance away from the Assorted kale bed.
As far as I can remember they were Asturian Tree Cabbage (ATC), Cottager's kale (CK) and Couve Tronchuda /Portuguese kale or cabbage (CT).
One of these has survived and several babies have popped up.
I know most of these brassicas look very similar but, since Snadger has mentioned ATC on Jay-ell's plot, I'm curious to know whether these are they!

All opinions welcomed (even the usual, cheeky ones).

Put my neck on the line here but i would say 'NO' unless Welsh Asturian tree cabbage are different from Geordie Paul & Becky's Asturian tree cabbage.

From memory the leaves seemed a more fluorescent green, but that could be due to the camera used, spose!

Looking back through my posts, I sowed it April 2013 with a load of other kale type things and posted a photo of Asturian tree cabbage 9th Nov 2014.

If I can find that photo on my old computer, I may be able to work out if its the same plant - Lots of Ifs there

Doesn't look like mine. I'll take a photo next time I'm down (if I remember) which is either Thursday or Sunday.

Mine is Becks and Paul Austurian Cabbage from real seeds. It 2 years old now but is a lighter green and has only just started to flower.

You must have a very loud Shout, Snadge!!
My seeds were the Paul & Becky ones too (wonder who they are?)
There are various photos of this plant on the net, but they all look a bit different to me

Don't think it looks like my Portuguese cabbage either. Just found them again now I've chopped back the huckleberry so I'm not sure.

See photos 1 to 4 and 6 for what's known here as 'berza asturiana' on this site (in Spanish):

                          Berza asturiana: información y cultivo

Photo 1 looks very like your seedlings, VC. But I guess a lot of these seedlings look alike.

On page 2, the photos in the first post in order are Asturian kale, Galician kale and old Galician kale.
