    Hi guys
I planted 8 asparagus crowns last spring they came up but the fronds didn't grow very tall. They are yet to make an appearance this year so was wondering if its too early for them yet or whether they just aren't going to grow and I need to think about digging the bed over for something else?
    TIA

Mine have not shown yet either - so parhaps it's still early. Depends on the variety an climate/aspect, I think - whereabouts are you?

I weeded my asparagus bed today, no sign of any spears yet although the PSB in the neighbouring bed is now going mental so I don't think it will be long

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

If I recall correctly from we grew them, I think the growing season is about 6 weeks and then the plant should be left .
Where we lived in the UK ( Cheshire) we were told by the local asparagus grower that the last day , traditionally, for picking asparagus was midsummer's day,
6 weeks before that is early May..so that's still a few weeks away.

Looking at my records from last year, the first spears started showing (and only showing, not ready to cut) mid April last year after a mild spring so not surprising nothing happening yet.

Too early for them to appear, as yet, unless you are in Cornwall (It would help if you could put your approximate location in your Profile pls, thanks)

I'm in Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire btw. Not sure how to change the settings so it shows in my posts. If I go to edit my profile it says I'm not allowed?
