I grew it last year and LJ is spot on.
Do make sure you pick the pods about 1" long- they start to get stringy/tough if left too long.
Very tastey though!!!!

We didn't much like them (I probably left them too long) but hope you do. They were easy to grow. I think we just layed a few birch branches in the same way as dwarf peas but I don't think they like any frost.

Hi Cathy & welcome.I grew asparagus peas last year for the first time.I grew some in pots & some in the veg. patch.They didn't need any support as they were quite delicate & grew to about 1ft-18" & sat quite happily in a sprawling clump.They look very pretty but didn't taste of very much & you do have to be careful to pick them when they are very small or they go very stringy & chewy.Good luck, hope you enjoy them.

I'm growing these too this year, mainly as a declorative plant in the front garden. Looking forward to tasting them too

I'm growing them for the first time this year as T & M sent me a free pack when I ordered half price seeds late last year. Put them in guttering in G/H last week. Nothing happening yet but as with all other sowings, if I look at them longingly for long enough they eventually appear

. I've heard that the red flowers are very pretty and worth growing for the blooms alone.

Me too..!

I'm growing these as well for the first time. I saw them last year in a london park grown as an interesting edging plant to a tropical border..

To be honest so far i've not been impressed by them the germination has been patchy and they have just come to halt after planting out.

However its interesting how it closes up its leaves at 'bed time'.

lovely looking plant and grows like a weed in my experience. Tastes gross though. Worth it for the flowers though - lovely red colour...
