    HI FOLKS

    I BOUGHT SOME 1 YEAR OLD ASPARAGUS CROWNS LAST SPRING AND APART FROM PLANT THEM ON I LEFT THEM ALONE TO GROW THEN DIE BACK.
    NOW NOT SURE WOT TO DO THIS SPRING SHOULD I HARVEST AND ENJOY OR DO I LEAVE THEM AGAIN AND HARVEST NEXT SPRING.

    ALL ADVICE GREATLY ACCEPTED

    leave them for another year, then next year harvest for 6 weeks after that you can harvest till midsummers day

        Just make sure you weed them and I always apply a thin dressing of bone meal to mine, harvest next year as you will have a better crop. Have you got them in the ground, raised bed or container?

          We put liquid seaweed feed on them early spring- and rocksalt and sand when they've died back in the Autumn( sandy and salt like they put on the roads in winter)

          I'd leave them next year too-well - maybe try a couple of spears

          Leave the fern leaves to die back this year- they feed the roots .

            I feed with BF&B and apply salt (only established beds) in early March. Any weed suppressing mulch can be appllied from June to Nov. Seaweed is very good as a mulch too.

              Fantastic advice from you all i feel like the mist on asparagus growing has lifted and i'm feeling like an asparagus expert already.

              Thank you so much i love this forum.......by the way have you seen how many folks are on here today..!!!! Wow must be rainin'

              p.s i grow them in pots at the mo until oct when new veg plot/raised beds will be ready. Will this be a good time to move them to their new permanent home.???
