  • Anyone grown upside down cucumber plants?

I know a lot of people try the upside down method of growing tomatoes, but has anyone tried growing cucumbers like this?

I would imagine as they are growing downwards they won't need staking or any netting to hang onto.

Never tried it - not too convinced it would work as well as it does with tomatoes - my cukes reach 8ft before I stop them and they are dripping with cukes so that would also put a lot of strain on the plants - they also take a lot more water than a tomato plant - so you would need to rig up an automatic watering system.
However, there may well be some varieties that are more suitable than the F1 varieties I grow. I'm not going to shoot your idea down in flames, cause it might be a goer, but if it was simple I'm sure we'd have heard of it before now.
Haha - Just googled upside down cucumber - and there is an american site dedicated to growing upside down !!
