  • Anybody grown a potato called sunita?

    I picked us a sack of Tatties and its a variety i have never heard of. Its a white with yellow flesh called Sunita. Do you grow it?

    Not a lot on the inter web, but one thing I did pick up is that it is highly susceptible to blight.

      Is this a seed potato or some to eat? If it was a seed potato you might be able to get more information from the supplier. Certainly not one I've come across.

        Not seed... bought a 25k sack. I cant find out anything about them. Had some for jackets at lunchtime and they were ok.

          Are there varieties that are only available to commercial growers I wonder? What are they similar to?

            It is possible that Sunita is trade name not variety name.

              It could well be that the farmer is trialing a new variety.

                Its printed along with other varieties on the sack with a tick next to the name. The garden centre where i buy them also had a sign with the variety and price on them. They must be a main crop.
