  • Am I too late to sow onion seeds?

I sowed seeds in modules back in January, planted out about a month ago. Most have disappeared. Can I start again?
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

Not worth even trying as the best you could hope fore would be spring onion size onions. Even sets are getting a bit late to plant but would be a better bet than seed.

      Pop in some sets.

On the south coast you should still be ok with planting sets now, but only in the next week or so

I planted a load of sets the last weekend in April last year and they were fine, a little bit smaller than average but still a decent crop but you're defiitely too late for seeds.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Tried to grow onions from seed ... failed big time ... so stuck to sets but to be honest if you cant set in the next week or so I would wait till next year

Contrary to everyone else; I sow onions pretty much year round and get them of all sizes all year round....if you sow them now - sow twice as many, plant them closer together and you will hopefully get biggish spring onion sizes later in the year [thus still getting onions, just not big ones]
