    Alphabetised seed tin?

    I've seen a few nice seed storage tins, but most of the ones with dividers are divided by month, whereas I'd like to organise by type.... Anyone seen a nice one with alphabet tabs?

    Thinking about my Christmas list...

    (Yes, I know I could make one myself, but, really, I'd rather be weeding.... ;-) )

    I just bung them in in groups. One tin for cucurbits, peas and beans, one tin for everything else. It's amazing how much they all hold! As long as my spreadsheet is up to date I know where to rummage!

      I got a gorgeous box out of that shop which sells tail ends of multi's ranges. The name escapes me but will come to me. Basically it's just an A4 size (or is it fullscap?) box with a lid that closes and holds closed with a magnet. I made my own index cards a5 size with seeds per kind (i.e. Brassicas) and filed the packets per variety alphabetically within that. I have two lots of packets side by side. Cost me eight quid for the box but when I see something like that that I like and need, I go for it.

      I mean, hold up twenty quid these days and let it blow away. Couldn't have bought much with that Twenty quid anyway, Having said that, if anyone wants to let twenty quid notes blow away, please wait till the wind is in my direction

          My approach is not to buy a seed tin, but a large tin of assorted biscuits.
          Once they're out the way it's easy to make some dividers for eg roots, fruits, herbs, etc.

                  "it's easy to make..." the call of the person who has a) time and b) the ability to make glue adhere things, scissors cut in straight lines and measurements not magically change during the making process.... ;-)

                  Just the thought of sitting down to make some dividers makes me want to whimper....

                    I saw a great idea on pinterest where someone had used one of those over the door storage things that has lots of pockets in - they then divided the seeds into groups, labelled the pockets - you could do that with a sharpie I guess.

                    I liked that idea because you could fit a lot of packets in and I haven't seen any purpose made seed divider that can really hold that much.
                    LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                      Alphabet arrangements are no good for veg. There are loads of Cs - carrots, cauli, cabbage etc and I challenge you to find many Xs and Zs.

                        I have got one of those expandy A4 folder thingies. They come with bits of coloured card which you can put in the top sleeve - smaller but bug enough for Brassica, Salad, Q's etc

                        And the best bit is it only cost £2.99

                        It also copes with more and more packets shoved in it and has thick elastic bands that cover over the corners to do it up.

                          Where's the fun in being able to see at a glance what seeds you have?

                          Much better to have a big jumble in 2 or 3 biscuit tins or boxes, and then have a lovely furtle through every now and then.

                          There's always a surprise when you find something you'd forgotten you'd ever bought, (or saved/begged/swapped/were gifted)
