    allotment lunch!

    today's lunch (unfortunately in the office and not at the allotment) was leftover cualiflower & veg cheese bake followed by rhubarb & redcurrant crumble. All ingredients (flower, cheese, milk excluded) were from the plot so very satisfying. At the canteen those 2 courses would have cost me £6 I've also got a bunch of homegrown grapes for mid-afternoon but haven't yet found a way of growing my own bananas!!! I'm the smug one with dirty fingernails in my office!

    Yesterday I looked in the fridge and there were courgettes (of course) half a red pepper half a baby cabbage some cooked Pink Fir Apple spuds. it eneded up as a stir-fry curry thing with an onion, a tomato and some frozen peas chucked in as well..it was tasty for tea! and I've just eaten leftovers for lunch..and apart from rice and oil for cooking it was all home-grown. I love harvest time

      me thinking " Well why don't you then , I even gave you a book about growing in small spaces.... but still you can't be mithered.. why do I bother sigh, oh and I'll have that book back then"

        I LOVE "home made" lunches and dinners! Our dinner tonight was pork chops with crushed potatoes, peas and runner beans! I havent bough veg for abouth a month!

          But it took three of my cauli's to get a decent helping!

            At least you got some cauli's .......

              I've just spent the weekend at a food festival and have been totally inspired to be more adventurous with the veg I grow and therefore eat! Also Monty Don put me to shame with his huge homegrown parsley - I just can't seem to grow big enough herbs and end up having to resort to shop bought packets (although I always look for reduced ones and stick them in the freezer!) Was inspired to try growing fennel for next year and to make more use of the chard we have tons of!
