Last autumn it was my intention to tidy the garden. I have no idea what I did instead because it now looks an absolute shambles. Pots have either blown over and spilled their contents and those empty ones have filled with water and are covered in green slime. I didn't even put away the patio cushions and they are now resplendant with mildew. Any plant that I obviously though could withstand our usually mild winter are barren and straw like. The less hardy ones that I covered with fleece are dropping the leaves and even the lemons on the lemon tree have turned to sludge. At what stage do I admit that all is lost and start again.

Aye, major clear up needed in our garden as well; strawb bed looks a right mess and non-frost proof pots have exploded all over the place.
Next warmish weekend, we'll be out there. Not yet though.

I missed the autumn tidy up last year - it's a total mess out there, nothing got cut back didn't put the garden to bed at all. Hope it warms up soon and I find my magic wand, cos that's what it's going to take out there! Good luck Brengirl.Life is too short for drama & petty things!

Thank goodness I am not alone. I only joined up with the Vine last October and felt I wasn't dedicated enough to be a true grape. Roll on the Spring I am getting itchy figuresComment

Don`t worry Bren most of us still have loads to do, we are not all perfect and Up-to-date with everything.
Lets face it November was a washout and the rest of the winter its snowed most of the time.
Just do a little at a time, soon be spring !

Mine looks like a bomb site at the mo!
Half built chicken shed and loads of pruning to do.
The thing is though, if the allotment looked tidy all the time I would have no excuse to go there?
As it is there is always loads to do!

We had a lovely garden when we moved in. Since then, in the last 3 months I've removed about 5 fir trees, a huge lorel bush, some other woody thing, and now it looks like a baron s**t tip.
Really going to have to pull my socks up or get some designer in to have a look at it, as it looks rubbish now!Comment

so glad to have read this thread and see that it isnt just me! however, i actually made a start today and brought about 50 pots into the kitchen and washed them all out today..only problem is that they are all over the house drying out now and hubby went slightly loopy when he came home and saw the mess! not to worry they'll all be in the shed by tomorrow and i'll actually feel like i'm making some progress!Comment

my garden at home looks like a bomb has hit it (read chickens!!!) i've got a week off in March & i'm going to blitz it....clear all the broken pots (obviously not frost proof) rescue what I can & pressure wash the patio down as its covered in moss & mud. Then i'll come back to work for a rest
