  • 5C - Potato protection?

    Hi All

Just heard that the temperature is due to go down to around 5C in my area over night. Should I cover the potatoes up? I never covered them previously so could I just be worrying too much?

5c Should be fine. It is when you get to freezing point that you should worry.

My outside spuds are now covered up completely - with soil! My greenhouse had been down to between 4 and 6 recently and the spuds in containers, while they have been earthed up - are now growing out of the top. They've been fine, I'm glad to say. If the forecast is for freezing, I shall be down there with me fleece though!
