  • 5 Gallon Containers

I spotted a load of dumped 5 gallon containers (about 5 or 6) while I was out walking the dog. I've no idea what was in them and wouldn't like to take a risk on using them for water unless I was sure that anything toxic was washed out.

Can anyone tell me if there's a sure fire way of cleaning these out, or should I leave well alone.

    Thanks

Me, I'd leave them, and report to the council.

I know they're a temptation but i'd leave well alone if I was you. You've no idea what you could be dealing with.

If they have just been dumped off road somewhere I'd suspect someone did not want the trouble and cost of of legally disposing of a hazardous chemical.

          Thanks

I'd more or less reached the same conclusion - I don't want to poison myself and or others.

This is a regular fly-tipping spot which the Council does a sweep of every month or so.

There's some nice long wooden boards on the same site that'd make great raised beds but I'm wary of using the car in case someone thinks I'm tipping.

Shame to let them go to waste though.
