    42 caterpillers and not happy

    Just removed 42 caterpillers from my brassicas.Due to all the rain I've not been able to get on the plot. I swear they have winter clothing tucked up somewhere, and a bad case of being on a seefood diet with my calabrase

    Next week its December FFS can we have a nice hard frost to kill the bar stewards please,pretty pretty please

    Feeling a bit pi55ed of ATM sorry

    Oh eck, I forgot to check mine this morning. I picked off about 15 yesterday morning and that was just a quick lobbing session before work!

      Feeling for you. I ripped all my brassicas up after the caterpillars took over this year. I couldn't even see the leaves on my swede for the numbers on them.

      Better luck next year for me!

        Last couple of days I've been picking them off my greenhouse lettuce

          Even this far north (Scottish Borders) I'm still picking caterpillars off my swedes, did'nt think the little sods were so hardy.

                  The caterpillars aren't being exposed to the elements: they're tucked up nice and cosy inside the folds of the cabbages. Nice little microclimate in amongst the leaves.

                    I took my enviromesh off a couple of weeks ago, and haven't seen a single sign of a caterpillar... We have had a couple of hard frosts though.

                            I too have had my spring cabbage seedlings attacked by caterpillars, I hand squished the first lot pictured here Pest Watch – Spot the Caterpillars|iGrowVeg
                            then i found some more a few days ago. There's almost no cabbage left now, i seem to have a bad luck streak in growing cabbages at the mo

                              Oh er.

                              Well I left the netting on because of the blinking pigeons - glad I did they do much more damage around here than the caterpillars, but then again they may have an issue with the netting.......

                              Oddly I still have fuschias etc in the hanging baskets. Nice eh?
