  • 30l storage boxes

I've been looking around for cheap tubs for growing some more veg in as I'm running short of space in the raised beds/borders.

And I've come across these seem ideal:-

Buy Keter 30L Black Plastic Pk 6 Stack and Nest Boxes at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Storage baskets and boxes.

Has anyone tried these and, if so, were they sufficiently durable?

    Thanks

I doubt the plastic is uv-stable.. in which case it'll break down/fade and split into many tiny pieces!

I have some washing up bowls that I grow coriander in that are breaking up, but only around the edges and they are about 4 or 5 years old, but the swing bins I used to grow carrots in have really broken up, they're about the same age. Suppose it depends how long you want them to last for your layout of cash.

Just a thought... the blue shopping bags you get from IKEA (cost 40p or so) are ideal from growing plants in.
You half fill it, put it on the lawn, stab it thru a few times with the fork so you have your drainage holes (so you don't mark your patio when you start making the drainage holes) and then you have your extra planting space....

Alan, given your location a visit to one of the fishing ports should be on the shortlist, have a word with the trawlermen & see if you can scrounge some "lightly damaged" fish boxes. Not the 'styrene ones from the fish market but the proper HD plastic on boat jobbies

Thanks for the replies, I did have some doubts about how long they'd last.

I like the fish box idea, I'll look into that - thanks.

My ASDA buckets are cracking up and splitting after 3 years of use.
