  • 3 problems help needed for a newbie

Above is a purple winter radish that has been grown next to calabrese, it's been nibbled by something any idea what? (All under fine net)

Above are pictures of something on my leaves, they both seem to be gradually coming on to lots of things, both veg and flora are slowly being infected? What are they, am I in trouble? Not so bothered about flora (although I appreciate I need to probably eradicate to stop the spread), more concerned about veg although it just seems to be leaves affected and not the actual fruit/root so far.

    Any advice welcomed

These are only guesses so here goes:
    1) Could be mice unless slugs/snails have teeth, or birds pecking.
    3) Could it be scorch, when you water do you water the soil or use a rose and water the whole plant?

That first leaf picture looks like something has been nibbling at it, some kind of larvae or worm. The radish looks like slug damage. Not sure about the last leaf picture, but it could be scorch.

        My guesses :-
        1. Slugs/snails
        2. Leaf miner
        3. possibly scorch

Radish looks like slug or snail damage.
The last leave looks like its burnt/scorched. Just avoid getting any water on the leaves and try to only water late afternoon/early night or first thing in the morning.

No idea on the middle one, but I've seen both the other two on plants of my own and they look almost identical.

Actually I think the last one has been nibbled, too.

                For my guess's.

                (a) slug's

                (b) possible leaf miner but would need to know the plant to help confirm.

                (c) Scald, the sap in the leaves is over heating in direct sunlight.

How do I deal with leaf minor? is it serious? It's not on everything but its on a selection of both veg and flowers and shrubs.
I will google it too but it's always good to get some hands on views.
Thanks so far for the heads up x

re Leaf Miner, the advice I saw was to remove the leaves and bin or burn them

                    Try this http://www.which.co.uk/documents/pdf...ers-153737.pdf

There are lots of different ones, and I never worry about them. They make the leaves look a bit manky so if that bothers you, pick them off
I would compost them: once their food dies (the leaf) then the miner will die too.

I think the second photo is probably scorch as it's happened on the tomatoes I've got in the greenhouse at the moment (and it's flipping warm in there at the moment!). Glad to see other people think it's scorch as it reassures me that it's nothing too serious :-)
