  • 2016 Potatoes

Last year I grew Vivaldi potatoes which were purchased from our local co-operative. This year he sold me Mona Lisa. I will plant them exactly the same as last years potatoes and see what happens. Vivaldi were planted on 3rd March last year, and the mounds covered with black plastic under which was placed my drip irrigation. As the plants showed through the plastic I covered them with fleece until the nights were a bit warmer. I had a really good crop of first earlies. The Mona Lisa potatoes are chitting in exactly the same place in the house - cool end of the dinning room with natural but not bright sunlight. Watch this space..................

Good luck, I do not have a clue what varieties I have apart from red and white main crop. I have saved some cherie for earlier so and they have chitted lovely, ready to be planted
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

daft question but did you plant through the plastic - ie make a hole or just cover over plastic and when you see a mound cut open?

Last year I planted then cut the holes but this year I shall reuse the same plastic and plant through the existing holes. They are old compost bags cut up the side and along the bottom and opened out.
