    1st Season .... What Next ????

    Hi Folks
    As it is my first season growing veg i was wondering what to grow next
    in the next couple of weeks most of my only raised bed will be empty except for my onions
    At the moment i have Lettuce, Spuds, Onions, Carrots,and Beets
    When the bed is empty what should i put in next...... i was wondering if its too early for over winter brassicas or have i still time for something else

    Any suggestions greatly recieved

    Hi I have a 2nd set of bean on the go and will also have psb and kale for overwintering

      Hi John,

      You can grow leaves through the whole summer - spinach, lettuce, rocket etc - with successive sowings. You may have time to put in a few courgette or squash plants if you can find them. Even beans and tomatoes may still have time if you have them as plants. Check what is in your local homebase or b&q and see if they have and plants left.

        It's still early enough to sow beans and maincrop peas (and they'll fix a bit of nitrogen into your bed for next year if you leave the roots in) My French beans were sown a few days ago and I never sow the runners until the end of June. I already have plenty of peas, but I'll be sowing at least twice more between now and the end of the month.
        Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

            I would get your winter veg in and then interplant with your dwarf beans salad items and any other catch crop you can think of.
