  • 1st Potato Harvest- swift by name...

    Just wanted to share this

Ive been growing swift potatoes on my patio in 30l self watering/wicking pots I made, I decided to have a little furtle to see what was happening and they seemed quite big so decided to harvest a bucket

Got bang on 1kg from a 30 litre bucket I only put them in the ground 63 days ago!

Ok not going to break any records I know but Im really pleased because Im really short on space and it means I can get another summer crop of veg in that area now so I am going to put sweetcorn plants in that space.

Home grown spuds, fresh from the soil are some of the tastiest things in my opion. Well done you. Putting your corn in its place is a good idea as a successional crop. I have 4 corn plants in a tyre by my strawberries that will be replaced by 'green in the snow' mustard later on in the year.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

That timings about right for Swift at about 8 to nine weeks they are one of the earliest of new spuds. I used to grow them but found I liked the taste of Lady C more so now have to wait another couple of weeks to get my first harvest.

Great on. Incredible variety to grow so much so quickly. I have some other varieties and so have a short wait to go I think.
