I'm about to give up, people I want to take part, and have tried to register with no success.

I've pm'd julian (but don't think he's been on for a bit), there's no contact email on the web site that I can see, and you can't reply to the email that they send you to register.

Anyone have an email that they can pm me for julian, or know how I can contact the site?

On his profile it says you can send him an email and there's a link. It also says he's not been on here since 10/02.

When I clicked on the email link it was an 'this member does not want to receive emails' message - if the email is for 'mods eyes only', could one of you send him an email for me and ask him to pm me?

Yay! Thank you!

Just got to get the jalapenos to germinate now....

(actually, bit worried about that - they've been in for 2 wks and no sign? They'd better be ok, as those were the only seeds I have.... )

I'm feeling bad enough about this already as the seeds were kindly sent to me by small blue planet, without you being really nice too!

The seeds have been uncovered in the attic room which is very bright and about 16 degrees (but gets warmer in the sunshine in the day). The cayenne chilli peppers that went in at the same time have seed leaves, but no sign of the jalapeno or bananana peppers?

You've killed them?

If I sent them to you Hazel they're probably old stock! Sabotage your chances!

Don't worry yet, two weeks isn't too long. If it gets to four then maybe start to panic a bit ha ha. To be honest 16 degrees isn't really warm enough. They'll still work, but they will take longer to get going. Aim for more like 20-22 degrees. I'd also cover them to increase the heat and keep the soil moisture in, and pop them in the airing cupboard perhaps. They don't need any light while they are seeds. Only once they have germinated and broken the surface do they need the light.

Another big mistake that a lot of people make is planing them too deep. They really don't have much energy to get to the surface, so just literally cover them with a thin film of soil. Plant them a couple of centimeters down and you may find they germinate but never make it to the surface.

Mine came through within about a week in a heated propogator on the window ledge, they're progressing slowly but nowhere near as bad as the Long Joe things last year which were possibly the slowest chillies I've ever grown!

Planted mine in a heated propagator in the shed a few weeks ago. They're about 2-3 inches tall now. I'll take some piccies at the weekend (maybe tonight if I get home on time).

Sowed mine on 9 Feb in a heated propogator and they were all through by 17 Feb. They're now looking pretty healthy with proper leaves and have been potted up from the ickle newspaper pots they were sown in into 3" plastic pots and are currently being cossetted in the dumping room that we big up by calling it a conservatory.

Mine went in last month - now about 1" high with only their first true leaves. Keeping them in cold greenhouse in the day but in the house at night - want them tough and sturdy not leggy from lack of light!
