  • Job for this morning: fitting a greenhouse window auto-vent!

    Wish me luck!

Not entirely sure what I'm doing to be honest!

There are a few threads on the subject....have you managed it?

I know you have to put the cylinder in the fridge for a few hours.

It'd been in there for DAYS Wendy waiting for the right temperature day to get going, it's in there again now

I'd only taken a screwdriver down, but needed a couple of spanners and a drill bit to sort the greenhouse side of things out.

So I watered my nematodes in instead.

          Right!

          Take 2:

I'm taking drill bit and assorted spanners along with screwdriver to the greenhouse now.

I'm feeling all manual labour today!

Edit: I didn't get any pics

A couple of false starts but got there in the end, I'll need to attune it in the coming days to ensure it opens and closes at the right temperature.

Turns out I didn't need to drill holes (despite doing so) as it clamps on, I did need the spanners tho to undo the previous fixings.

One of the plotholders was short of said fixings for her home greenhouse so I left them on her plot to discover on her next visit.

            Something went right today!

Was about to say that mine didn't need any holes drilled at all and just clamped on but sounds like yours does too

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Here is a 'before' pic, showing why I thought I'd need to drill a hole or two, the existing holes were not lined up on the frame and the window:

I'll take some after pics tomorrow for those thinking of installing one so you can see what it looks like on my aluminium greenhouse

I have been away for a long weekend visiting family and the plants are doing well, the vent must be doing it's job.

I am extremely sad to announce that a wren found it's way inside the greenhouse and it appears to have hit it's beak on the glass and died the poor thing

I would ask anyone with a window vent on their greenhouse to net it off so that birds cannot get in and become trapped as I now have done.
