Greenhouse staging

There was an article about making staging out of old pallets in the GYO mag a few months back.

Slate battening with good cross members, works well. The cross members need to be quite thick as the staging carries a lot of weight.

Me too

Mine is made from Dexion (mechano-style angle-iron, although mine is Aluminium) and some mesh (like weld mesh, but lighter) which I got as a job-lot off eBay.

Hi don't know if the piccies help. I use one greenhouse as a potting shed as well. So one bench has on old worktop on top (if you go to a merchants and ask if they have any old damaged ones they are usually cheap/free) and the rest is all pallet wood and wood scraps. I have also included the gutter pic in case you want to maximise space.

I only have a 8x6 so need all the space during the season. For staging early in the year I use two plastic saw horses about �20 from the depot and 5 lengths of 100mm x 20mm treated timber. This then goes out for the summer and packs away easily and I am just about ready to put it back in to over winter some CACA salad leaves.

I just use paste tables strengthen with some 50 x50 timber

Great minds think alike. I use gutter for cut & come again and other salad leaves. Never thought of hanging them up.

As for the staging don't think I can be much help. I have tunnels not greenhouses so it's a bit different.

But here is what I've got.

Me & the other half got a job of ripping down a church ( film prop ) and we got to keep all the wood from it. This is what my staging is made from.

It did have a roof on but that got blown off in a storm in the film.

Wow, tunnel looks like a nice set up..,,and the church/view too!

I like the idea of guttering for moving things up off the ground.

This is my eBay bargain. I paid �25 for it collection only. I think the top is just scrap bit of wooden but it's been well looked after. So should easy to replace when needed.
It's worth having a look in eBay or gumtree you might even get a bargain with the weather getting cooler.

I must say i really enjoyed looking at other peoples ideas. There's some really clever gardeners here!!

Thanks Lamboluke. The tunnel set up works well for me, I can say that now I've had my first full year using it

. It was fun taking the church down. Felt a bit odd hoovering the field when we'd finished

! Had to make sure there were no screws, nails, paint flakes or anything left before the live stock went back into the field. I can't deny it we have some stunning views around here
