  • greenhouse heaters

    my hubby bought me a paraffin one for christmas and when i use it is it best to leave it on day and night or just for a certain amount of time each day. thanks

    They work out quite expensive to run, so I just use mine when needed for a few weeks at the end of April/beginning of may when you want stuff out in the greenhouse but there is still the chance of a hard frost.
    Obviously if frost isn't forecast I don't light them

      It depends what you're using the greenhouse for. I germinate all my seeds on my windowsills at home (above the radiators) and then move them to the greenhouse to give them more light and because I need the windowsills for the the next batch of seeds. I put the heater on when the temperature in the greenhouse is very low. If the weather is frosty it stays on continuously with fleece over the seedlings as well. If the weather is warmer I'll hardly use it. I just use it to make sure the greenhouse is frost-free.
