| The soil in some of my trays in the greenhouse is going a dark bottle green on the top. Is this a fungus and if so can I treat it. Could I have watered it too much or not given enough ventilation (although reluctant to open window due to cold weather at moment. |

| It's caused by over-watering. Be a little harsher!

| All may not be lost. Ease up on the watering and ventilate if you possibly can. I always water my pots and trays in the greenhouse by standing them in a large tray containing water (and sometimes soluble fertiliser). Just leave them to soak up enough to keep them growing. The green stuff doesn't usually do any harm to bigger seedlings. |
