Default Easy way to build foundation?

Does anyone know of an easy way to build a DIY foundation for a new garden shed and lean-to greenhouse, please? My husband is fine with basic DIY, but has never done anything like this before. Any and all advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Caroline

Great question,

we are hoping to buy a greenhouse in the not too distant future so I will be watching this thread with interest. Better still, once your husband has practiced with yours, do you think he'll fancy doing one for us

Thanks for that Snadger,

We don't have railway sleepers but we do have loads of old worm ridden oak beans and we were wondering what to do with them. I reckon they should do the trick.

As long as you don't use wooden seed trays, or else you may finish up with a few extra drainage holes you can't account for!

This might help: http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/guides/1

I used the slab method on my old shed at our last house - ok, it was only a 6x4 shed, but I did it on my own, and it was my first ever project of such a nature.

After clearing the ground and removing the turf I infilled with hard core and compacted it until level. I then lay treated timber (fence posts) about 18" apart onto the hard core, then the shed base sat on the fence posts. Once I was happy the floor was level I carried on with the rest of the shed. That was about 5 years ago and the shed is still fine and completely dry underneath. If you don't want to see the space underneath the shed, surround with flowers. Don't try this method with greenhuoses!
