    Default Cucumbers

    Hi Folks

    I have been given some really nice cucumbers as mine are not quite ready yet and they taste really nice
    The problem is that the skins are very tough ....... What could have caused this
    I am hoping my cucs havn't got tough skins but if they do how can i stop it hapening next year

    Hi John, I am not sure what the answer is to tough skins. I just peel mine and they are very tasty and light coloured.

    Yes these are very tasty its just the skins are a bit tough bordering on rubbery

    It will probably be the variety and they might have been sitting around for a while.

    I've grown two varieties this year Burpless and Mini Munch. The Mini Munch have been fab - really tasty and fairly prolific.

    The Burpless have fairly thick skins though and loads of seeds.

    Not sure if I've done something wrong to get all those seeds or whether it's just the variety.

    Shame they were F1 seeds originally otherwise I'd have millions of saved seeds!
