  • Clearing the greenhouse

My tomatoes will eventually be done and the grapevine actually grows outside the greenhouse (and comes in through the wall). Anything else I've got is in pots (rocket, mint, sage, parsley etc) and some potatoes that haven't done anything...

Do I need to do anything to the soil in there over the winter - dig in manure/compost etc? Should I cover the soil in old carpet/plastic so no weeds come through?

    Thanks

    Hi OWG,

If I was you I would dig in some muck, there shouldn't be any problems with weeds unless you get loads blow in.

If you're going to grow some early carrots inthe beds don't manure that bit though else they'll fork & all sorts.

We clear out the tomato / cucumber beds at the side, down to about 1ft and replace it in the spring with new potting compost. The old stuff goes onto the allotment away from the new spud/ tom beds
