    cleaning polytunnel

    I've got a week of soon and want to clean down and tidy up my polytunnel now all the toms etc have been cleared.
    Is it best to use soapy water on the polythene, or is there something special I should use?

    You need to be careful not to damage any film on the plastic such as anti fogging. Citrox is mild and kills algae without damaging plants. Wet the surface first and then gently remove all you can with a soft sponge or cloth before rubbing with citrox solution using a sponge. My tunnel is still quite new and I'm just using luke warm water and a sponge on the smooth bits: Citrox and the sponge in the grooves at the end that catch water and go very green. I wash on and off through the season as plants leave bits of the bed free to work over.

    I haven't done it yet but I will use a broom wrapped in lots of cloth to do a full overhead in the next six months or so. Equally, I haven't done the outside yet but the recommendation is to use and old sheet and two bits of long rope so you can sling it over and rub backwards and forwards working to and fro across the length.

          I was told that fabric softener in water for cleaning the plastic helps to keep the plastic supple. Hope it works as I have just cleaned the outside of mine with it. Cleaned it and then rinsed it off with clean water. Can't seem to get citrox here and I don't want to use algicides.

          Anyone else heard of this.
