I have just been given an old greenhouse, it needs a few new glass panes but otherwise pretty much okay. My current greenhouse has a metal base which the frame is attached to. This raises the greenhouse by about 5 inches which is useful as it gives me a bit more headroom. My question is would you suggest I get on for my 'new' greenhouse. Is there an advantage over the extra height?

I think so, you can grow your toms taller!
My greenhouse is bolted to a row if blocks. -
I agree, well worth the time, easier on the back than having to duck all the time as you get closer to the wall's, I often wonder if they're made for gnomes and fairies, they're all so low!Never test the depth of the water with both feet

I built new doors for my poly to replace the zip up thingy and oh how I wish I had made them just an inch taller. My second had GH didn't come with a base so me and Mr Pots made one from breeze blocks topped with tanalised laths.Location....East Midlands.Comment

That's made me feel reet smug Bill. I was thinking of doing the same as you but being over 6' I realised it would cause problems so I just made a 3' gate at each end and cut the zipper part across 6" below the top of the gate so it just overlaps the gate..........works a treat...........Originally posted by Bill HH View Post

I went for double doors because that was the size of the zip opening and i like lots of ventilation in the summer, but that meant i was restricted height wise due to the sloping sides.
It's not really a problem, my head is gradualy being worn down to suit.
