I've got an Elite Greenhouse and I want an Automatic Roof Vent Opener.
There are several cheap generic ones on ebay - will they all fit?

I don't know if they will all fit but I have got 4 greenhouses, all different, all secondhand. One is an elite, I've no idea what the others are.
Being optimistic, or naïve, I never even considered that the automatic openers I bought wouldn't fit when I bought them. I got them all at different times, at different places (one from a car boot sale secondhand). They were all generic.
They all fitted no problem and all work perfectly. -
Unless it was a very heavy roof opening / window then I can't see why the generic one I have wouldn't work on any greenhouse but can't say for sure.

I have this one form two wests Bayliss XL Vent Opener I couldn't tell you the make of any of my greenhouses but it fits the both. And because I don't live far form there unit I didn't pay P&P. I would recommend it.Last edited by Currysniffa; 30-04-2014, 07:49 PM.Chris

Only thing I would say is that the cylinder can need replacing from time to time. What is the spares availability for your generic one? I have an Elite greenhouse and a Bayliss opener and I know I can get spares. However the generic one may be cheaper than the replacement Bayliss cylinder. Just my two pennies worth.Comment

My vents are connected to the phone....I ring up and Mrs Greenleaves opens them.....I just buy whatever is on offer when shopping all seem to work OKComment

Never had to, think mine's been in situ for about 15 years now and it works fine. Always take it off for winter, not sure if I need to but it seems good practice.Originally posted by WendyC View Post

I don't recommend buy the elite ones as they only open when the sunshines on them and the wax expands. it gets to 30 degrees before the think about opening! No use at all

My instructions said that the chilling was to get rid of any air bubbles that would stop it working properly. They recommended letting it warm up again for 10 minutes before fitting.Originally posted by Bigmallly View PostComment
