Hi

I'm relatively new as well, but if you pop along to Homebase you can buy an automatic window opener for £16.99. You set the temperature and if I were you Iwould do it at a reasonably low temp as during the day even with the window open it will still get hot. Make sure you leave a flat basin of water out as well or dampen down the floor to keep the humidity right. You can buy special white paint for shading or you could also hang the white horticultural fleece (I did this) used to keep things warm as it reflects heat in summer.

Hope that helps.
