Default Automatic Window Opener

Thinking of getting an automatic window opener for my greenhouse. Would be interested to know if anyone has one and if they work ok.

I have a bayliss xl for my roof vent and it works a treat. This model clips onto the greenhouse frame as well as having the option of screwing on. Here is a link

Thank you, that's the sort I was thinking of. I start work early in a morning and sometimes don't have time to dash to the greenhouse to open window, OH will open window if he remembers, but I would prefer to rely on window opener if I can get one.

That's exactly why I got mine. I got mine through ebay and had it within 3 days of order and it only took half an hour to put on. You have to put the tube of oil in your fridge for half an hour before installation. I really recommend it.

Hi Soomai

I've got a mini greenhouse with louvre vents working on the sun heating a tube of oil to open and close. I've not built it yet, it doesn't mention putting the tube of oil in the fridge before installation. Can you give me more info. before I install it please?

Tracey

Hi Tracey, that's all the instructions said. To place the tube in fridge half an hour before installation. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure there is a scientific reason.

It uses a neumatic effect so if the oil is cold it will be easier to fit as it will be fully retracted ie windows closed.

Cheers Chris

That's the kind I have - gave me a bit of a shock first time I saw it in action shortly after moving in here - wasn't aware such things existed, let alone that I had one, and was fairly sure I hadn't opened the window - spent a good few seconds scanning the garden for intruders before I bravely went down to the greenhouse and discovered the auto-opener.

It is important that you get the right one for the job. There are two sizes. One is stronger, and is made to open the larger windows.
