An idea struck me this morning (as they sometimes do).

Could you use the vending cups as planting pots - for seedlings and alike? Obviously make a few holes in the bottom first. "We" go through quite a few at work - I use my own mug for tea, but there are probably hundreds used here each day.

Just a thought...

Yes of course you can Haywayne, I use anything that is a suitable size and material, with holes in the bottom of course Why buy pots when you can re-cycle

I have been given some massive water bottles the ones you have in offices
any ideas what I can use them for

"mini" cloches?

I use the centres of toilet/kitchen rolls in a seed tray.
There is no need to transplant, just put straight into ground & they will rot away

I agree with hw, I've got load of pop bottles saved to use for beer traps and mini cloches.

If you fancy home brewing they are great for that apparently. I have been trying to find out where to get some from for ages!

pity you live so far I can have as many as I want

The only problem I have found with vending cups is that they are usually made of white plastic which allows light to the roots and causes green moulds on compost. Probably not a problem for short term plantings though!
