No idea about the moth balls, but I know they keep squirrels off bird food!- so it's worth a try with mice.

I had heard warnings about moth balls, so I googled it, and found this:

I had a friend who worked at the Natural History Museum spending the whole of his life looking at moths balls under a microscope to determine the different micromoths od SE Asia - well someone's got to do it.

Best way I've found for peas and beans is to germinate in the greenhouse, either in trays, cells or guttering. That way at least you know they're alive when you plant them out. I don't like using chemicals of any sort if I don't have to.Comment
