I have only two issues under my belt so am by no means an athority on this subject; but I have noticed that there seem to be a number of different introductory offers open to readers to choose. I think that they change from month to month? however there are other sites on the net that also offer subscriptions to many magazines and they always have a gardening section.
Looking on these sites and taking up their offers means you recive a large percent discount off the cost rather than a free gift. I know that the free gifts in GYO change because in Septembers issue they wrote that if you had subscribed to the magazine for 12months earlier in the year then you could also recieve the free book by contacting the GYO staff and requesting a copy. I think that with the magazine in it's infantsy, we will see many different offers to tempt us to sign up rather than go on buying from the supermarkets, after all the point of sale always takes a cut off the sale price.
Buying direct from the GYO Staff may make the difference to how long the magazine lasts. This may sound bleak but not all good magazines make it. Perhaps if they did an artical on say..."Grow Carrots in your Porshe" or "Check out Abi Titmus 's new wellies" it would sell more copies. There again if that what was what they were putting in the magazine then I for one would not be buying it.
