Yesterday I saw Sainsbury's still have the offer on for: 20 ltr bags, buy 1 get 1 free £2.49. So although it works out at £7.50 for 120 ltr compared to £6 for Wicks offer of 140 ltr, Sainsbury's compost bags are easier to lift and carry.

70 ltr is a good offer if your strong enough to lift and carry them.

Having taken a look at the ASDA 70L bags of compost I question the volume. They looked to me less than half the size of the 100L bags I normally buy. They also seemed very light.
Yes they are a convenient size but I'm not convinced about their value for money.

The Volumes always surprise me....I have an 80l dustbin...but I can get 1 and half 70l bags into it.

Presumably the 70l is quoted before transit, i.e before the air has been squashed out of it!

I'm sure some companies have a compost aerating machine they use to pack the bags with.

Yep that is the problem when buying by volume....When I buy bulk compost he loads the trailer with a front loader. When he goes for a second shovel full the boy and I jump in and stamp it down. We then attack it with spades to pack it down.

Then you have to drive round the yard twice and what stays in the trailer you keep.
