  • Just ordered some cheap staging and a coldframe

I'm not sure which forum this should go in so apologies if it is in the wrong one.

I don't know if anyone has heard of a company called BigPockets but I have just ordered a few things from them which include staging and a cold frame.

They deal with bankrupt stock and it looks like they have quite a bit of stuff in at the minute from Argos as they all have Argos item codes.

I have just ordered a twin pack of staging (like the ones you get in a walk in greenhouse) for £8.72 and a single cold frame for £5.91.

The product code for the staging is ARGOS994 and the cold frame ARGOS868.

There isn't a picture on there yet of the cold frame but I thought it was worth a gamble for £5.91.

I ordered at just gone 10am this morning and my order is tracking as despatched so it should arrive tomorrow by Citylink.

I think their delivery costs are expensive at £5.99 but they do have some items which give you free delivery so I ordered a surge adaptor with alarm for £8.99 which in effect means it is costing me £3 as I would have been paying £5.99 anyway. Suppose I can always try and flog it on ebay.

Haven't got a clue what the cold frame will be like and I haven't got an old catalogue to check, I suppose it will be a plastic one.

I know the staging isn't going to be the best in the world but it must be worth just over £4 each.

Sounds like a bargain. I use that type of staging in my greenhouse. It’s light and easy manoeuvre. I'd be interested in seeing what the cold frame is like. We had a little one with a plastic cover at DS's school, but the wind has flittered it already. Let us know what yours is like when you get it.

Hope it works out for you.
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.

21again, that is a fabby website and I've bookmarked it Thanks! I'll probably be ordering that staging if there's any left next week, and I'll be interested to see your cold-frame when it arrives too!

Ok folks, my order arrived this morning at 8.45am so not bad considering I ordered at about 10am yesterday morning.

Anyway, I am really impressed with the cold frame, I don't think you can go wrong for just over a fiver.

        What do you think?

        Sorry about the big pics.

I have put two of those planters I bought from Wilkinsons in there to give you an idea of the size of it (they are approx 15" square).

I haven't opened the stagings yet, will do those later but you can see what they look like anyway from the little pic above.

          Here is another pic.

          [IMG][/IMG]

There are zips down each side, velcro pads at the front and strips of material at the back to tie the top up.

I have just put together two of the staging racks and they are quiet tall.

I think the picture is a bit deceiving.

If you have one of those walk in plastic greenhouses, the half size ones, not the 6 by 4 ones these shelves come up to the same level roughly as the top shelve in one of those and you could if you wanted to fit two of these in the middle of your walk in greenhouse.

You wouldn't be able to walk in it of course but it will give you a hell of a lot of pot space.

We could have saved the postage. I could have ordered yours with mine.

I put the cold frame together and I was impressed for the price. I was able to get about 12 pots (or various size) in there all snug for the night.

It felt like it was going to be a cold night last night but it must have been warm as the cold frame was soaked in condensation this morning when I went out to open it for the day.

If there shipping wasn't so extortionate I would get another one.
