  • J Parker any good for fruit trees?

Wanting to buy 3 - 4 fruit trees and no decent nurseries around Fife area (that I know of anyway!); only overpriced garden centres, so i was wondering if anyone has ever bought fruit trees from J Parker's and if so, what they thought of them?

At £18 a pop, i dont really want to waste not much short of £100!

We've had raspberry canes from them (which I know are not trees) but they have been fine, as has all the other stuff I purchased. We have also bought gooseberries from them this year.

I'd give them a bell, and see how helpful/knowledgable they are.. one nursery in north wales (im in south) said he was from the area originally, knew where I was - and advised me on local varieties that'd thrive in my windy tunnel of a side garden. Infact, i couldn't get off the bloomin phone!!

Have to say that on other forums i have heard a lot of people saying that these are unreliable, however I have only ever had positive experiences with them. I ordered raspberry canes last year which arrived and were planted however 5 didn't grow. I emailed parkers and they refunded the money for the 5 which hadn't grown, better than some other companies I have used!

From personal experience I would not recommend Parkers.

What was on the label, and what the plant was didn't bear much resemblance.

I should have to say I havn't ordered from them for years, purely because of their bad service. They may have improved, but I wouldn't order anything from them, based purely on my previous experience.
