  • choosing new plants...

I just needed to share my thoughts with you on this one- bit of a warning really!

I was in a supermarket ( also has a massive gardening section)- and -as usual, was drawn to the ''impulse purchase' section ()

I spotted some iris and lily of the valley hanging up in the plastic bags on a rack.
    OOOOoo thinks I

So having carefully removed every one off the racks and selected the biggest ones with the smallest, healthiest shoots , healthy roots, and damp compost ,I hung the rest back up for some poor sole to take home - and fail to grow because- the ones I left behind were utter rubbish and clearly badly stored.

So those of you who are new to GYO ( flowers included) watch out for what you pick up- go through all the packs and pick out the healthiest looking ones ( just as you would rummage around for the longest shelf-life milk/cream/meat)
Don't get dazzled by the pretty piccie on the front!!
