Default advice on decorative bark use

hello,
I have cleared an area with decorative bark on top to have some raised beds to grow veg in. I intended to dig the bark into the soil which will be the bottom of the beds to aid drainage and then fill the beds with new top soil. Is it safe to use the bark in this manner or will it cause a problem later on. Hope some one can advise me on this. Thanks
