We got compost from lidl last year

If it's cheap enough & good enough what does it matter Adam? Do you get discount for bulk buying though, I've seen your pics. of all your onions & it looks like quite a big operation?

SueA, it doesn't really matter, we do get a discount as we also go and collect from the regional office. We also get loads of compost from our local recycling company for free

Can't get them in sunny skeg either.

Sue do you get a Sat. offers list/email?

I subscribed but get a Monday email & a Thursday email - no sign of olive trees.

We have had these offers in so'ton about two or three weeks ago but they sometimes have bits left over. I bought a couple of their olive trees last year which don't appear to have done much - they are at least still alive but i've not found much info about them.

Thought the 'Olive tree' would get your attention SBP! I get a leaflet through the door every week (when the delivery lady can be bothered!) as we live quite near a Lidl & it does usually just have Mon. & Thurs. offers on but this one had Sat. on the back page, perhaps it's a special because it's Bank Holiday weekend. The olive & banana plants don't look as though they are massive on the pics. but I'm going to have a look.

Soobeth, J.Parkers have some Acers that are not bad prices if you want to buy them mail order but you may get cheaper on ebay or a local garden centre. Here's the link to Parkers.

Well I registered for both the Lidl and the Aldi email newsletters and have not received a single one - I've even emailed both companies to find out why and neither of them replied - so I tried registering for them again and still not got anything! I relay on picking up the leaflets every time I visit the stores.

Just a note to say that last year I bought an extensible fruit picker thing from Lidl. About £9.99 I think but is coming in very handy for picking the pears and although it has spent the winter outside it is still in fine fettle.

Appreciate the little things in life because one day you will realise they are the big things

Popped into Lidl on Saturday & they did have the olive & banana plants & yes I was suckered into buying one of each. The olive tree is in a plastic 'terracotta' pot & came with a tiny bottle of olive oil strapped to it but it looks like a bonsai olive tree with a sturdy thick trunk & tiny leaves & is labelled 'europea' like my other but nothing like it! The banana wasn't labelled at all but I assume it will be a tender variety & will need to be undercover in winter. I'm attaching a photo of the olive & banana next to the 'free' (p&p) olive I got from Gardeners' World magazine this week also, next to a 30cm ruler so you can see how small they are. They all look like nice healthy plants though so far!

Has anyone used their bone meal. I noticed we are getting that along with some other bits and bobs next week and was wondering if it was worth it.
