Default Newspaper pot machine

Can anyone tell me where I can get one of those newspaper pot machine things???? I often give a lot of plants away and an always spending a fortune on pots that I never get back.

Has anyone ever used these machines before? Are they easy (or is it like following Ikea Instructions)??? How much does it cost?

Any help would be great.

Silverfox if you put newspaper pots into the search there is loads of info to make your own. Wizer first made them and posted photos and instructions.

Thanks - I have had a look back and got some good ideas. I just thought there was some sort of machine you could buy that would do it all for you.

Thats it but I thought it would make bigger pots than that.

Thanks everyone - I guess its on to paper folding and back to using a new plastic cup each time I want a drink at work and popping it my handbag SHHHHHHHHHHH dont tell the boss.

I put a box next to the water cooler for the plastic cups at my work with a note saying I was collecting them for my seedlings. Got absolutley loads, far more than I needed.

Makes you realise how many normally just get chucked out on their way to landfill. We've been trying to get the building manager to collect them for recycling, but they keep coming up with rubbish excuses. So much for our orgnaisation's "comittment to reducing its impact on the environment both locally and globally". Pah!

Hi Silverfox
I recently bought one from www.sanctuarygreen.co.uk for £9.95 - its brill! In fact, its my favourite purchase! Just wish I'd bought it earlier! It does make little pots but they are perfect for putting seeds into and you can, of course then put them straight into the ground because the paper decomposes.....hope you find this info useful. dexterdog

how about using the polypots. Like a black plaggy bag with holes in. various places sell them including my favourite NA Kays & they are relativeley cheap. I use them for Tomatoes for outr plants sales & the 3" pot size are around £2 for 100 (£12 for 1000 if your really keen).

Also I've got all my colleagues trained & I often get into work to be met by a bag fullof pots & trays that they have saved for me

I've got a 'paper potter' - £10ish from an ebay store. To be honest I thought they might fall apart, or go soggy when watered, or not dissolve and let the roots grow (always the optimist!) but I think it's fab and my tomatoes and strawberries that were grown in them are now doing really well (except the toms won't ripen but that's another story).

I used the instructions on here for making pots from folded newspaper and they work very well. In fact they kept my lettuces very damp and cool in that heatwave we had!

Sorry to be blunt but my house saves them from year to year. Have used them with great success. Chea, bio friendly, roy down easy and easy to find. If you find you need more just have a few exra curries each month

Made me laugh, Silverfox the curry part that is. I use the good old bog roll too, hadn't thought about increasing the supply though!
