Grow Your Own Magazine

Due to selling up and having to move into a flat with absolutely no garden and not even a window box I've been off the vine for a year.
However May 14 I get the keys to my new house and most important: Garden!

It's a horrible bare corridor with no shrubs or anything at all but I'm getting really excited thinking about the transformation.
My last garden just evolved over the years and I want to plan this out a bit as it has absolutely no structure and is totally different to my old place.
I'm not sure I'm not trying to get too much in though. It's about 65' x 15'
I'd like a patio bit, a little green circle with flowers /shrubs / bench area. Veg patch, a few fruit trees and somewhere at the end for chickens. Possible?

Any / All suggestions gratefully received. Please help me design my plot?

Work out your aspect (South facing if you're luckiest)
Gather ideas, make lots of plans on paper first. Consult a book on garden design if nec.
And get cracking!

I am I am. Do nothing else when supposed to be working but want Viners advice on specific fruit trees for small space , how many per 15' sq for example and WHICH?
Chickens? how much space. Will they be OK in the mini Orchard bit for a wander?

In fact everybody who got my special squash seeds is now expected to gimme a hand.
Its SE facing so not too bad but nothing like my old wide cliff garden. Completely flat too which I'm going to find hard. No natural structure so need some fast growing shrubs.
I want everything to work hard. Flower, fruit,winter colour and companion planting where possible. This is from nothing so a challenge but could be amazing. Help!

Haven't got a clue to advise on the planting - but what a wonderful opportunity! I would look through mags and books for my fave plants (I know what I think is pretty but don't know what it is!) then would plan it into my garden.
I'm in the process of planning my (very) small back garden and this is what I am doing..............once Ive got rid of the weeds which seem to be growing at a vast rate.........once Ive finished planting on my lottie which takes priority, of course! Bernie aka DDL
