Default Green Roof

Hi,
We got our allotment in late January. Most of the hard work is done: things are growing in the right places! We're down to the last few tasks now, one of which is purchasing a shed. I would really like a green roof on the shed, and having visited the Urban Gardening exhibition in Manchester this morning I see that it is most definitley possible. Does anyone out there have a green roof, or does anyone have any advice on the best way to approach this? I understand we will need waterproofing and drainage underneath the frame that contains the growing medium (not decided on this yet). But is there anything else? Also, our original plan was to mount a small solar panel on the shed roof so we can run a kettle there. Are the green roof and solar panel compatible?

Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

Cath
